Acknowledgment boosts staff morale

Regular acknowledgement of success is incredibly important to maintain a good working relationship.
Elizabeth Bacchus, director of thesuccessfulcv.com, explained that all workers, including temps and CIS subcontractors, want to feel appreciated and valued at work.
"Managers who provide regular feedback to their staff and an open door policy not only develop happier staff, but also long-term loyalty. Achievements need to be celebrated both on a department-by-department basis, but also as a whole company initiative," she suggested.
If staff feel happy generally, any issues that do arise will be easier to deal with and managers will be more able to sidestep miscommunication and resentment.
Proper communication is vital, she added, so talking face to face must be considered a priority, while hiding behind email and memos should be avoided.
Piya Khanna, an executive coach at Change to Succeed, urged people to find or create a career they love rather than settling for something mediocre.
