There's a business in everyone
24 January 2012
David Cameron is pushing for more people to start paying self employed taxes by increasing entrepreneurship in the UK.
The government has launched a major new campaign, in collaboration with business groups and the private sector, called Business in You.
Its aim is to illustrate how normal people have turned their passions to businesses and will advice those hoping to branch out on their own how to do it in practice.
"Small businesses and entrepreneurs are the lifeblood of the British economy and I am determined that we, working with the private sector, do everything we can to help them to start up and to grow in 2012. I want to encourage people to go for it and make this the year of enterprise," the prime minister explained.
New figures from the Office for National Statistics show that the number of people registered as self-employed rose in 2011 to a record high, with 4.14 million registered in the third quarter.
