Getting started
If you are genuinely self employed then being paid directly by an agency with PAYE deductions may mean you end up paying more tax than necessary.
You need to:
- Register as self employed with HMRC if you haven’t already done so. This needs to be done within the first three months of taking up your contract assignment.
- You must also register to pay Class 2 national Insurance Contributions
- Complete a Futurelink application form and send it in to us along with a clear copy of your photo ID (click here for a list of acceptable forms of ID) and notification of your tax reference number (if you are still waiting on this from HMRC you can still register, just send this along at a later date)
- Send us a copy of your work permit/visa (if applicable) to demonstrate your right to work in the UK
Futurelink will:
- Invoice your agency/client on your behalf
- Make a gross payment to you as soon as cleared funds have been received from your agency/client
- Pay you by your selected payment method and send you a text message to notify you that funds have been released, the amount and when these funds will clear in your account
